You don't need me to wish you "Good luck."

Before a soccer game a few years ago, I was having common butterflies in my stomach. The game was important, against a team that was ranked higher than my team on national rankings. We knew that we could boost our season with a victory against them.
At that time, I was constantly talking to a mentor of mine, Jamie Gilbert, and doing mental training. In one of our phone calls, I told him that I was feeling a little more nervous than usual. So Jamie asked me, "How have you been training lately?" I answered, "Good..." while I was still talking about performance, he stopped me! He said, "Not good or bad! What have you been doing? Physically? Mentally? What about your rest?"
He caught me by surprise. I did not understand where he was going with that, but I answered what I was doing. After that, the call was almost over! So, he said, "I won't wish you luck. You don't need it. Everything that you have done until now has prepared you to take the most of whatever happens in this game. Talk to you soon man."
Wow! In that instant, my confidence went up, and my stress went down.
Luck will not bring success.
After that call, I realized that I had passionately immersed myself into giving my best in preparing, training, and growing. I could not control the outcome of the game, but I was definitely ready to give my best and learn from "Whatever happens."
I wish you development but not "Good luck."
Good luck can make something cool happens at times. You can have a lucky day and be seen by someone or be fortunate enough to win the lottery. However, if you are not passionate about what you do and prepare yourself as much as possible when no one is looking, no luck will sustain your success.
Luck is the wishful thinking for favorable circumstances but does not bring foundation.
Instead of focusing on luck, focus on growth, preparation, and working on your calling. Then, you can create your "Good luck."
